OAGC Parent Day is Sunday, October 16. This day is always a great jam-packed day and it only costs $5!!!

* Jonathan Plucker, professor from John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth will present a keynote on: Success in College and Life: A Professor’s Perspective

* We will then have fabulous breakout sessions from some of the best speakers in the field on topics including:

Top 10 Things Gifted Parents Need To Know Before HS
Beyond Instant Information: Engaging Generation Z Gifted Students
Safe Havens: Providing Support for Stressed-Out Gifted Children

Parent Day is a great opportunity to network and learn from other families–and often the educational/game vendors have set up early so you can buy from them.

Thinking about ways to keep your child engaged over the summer months? We have reached out to these organizations to invite them to provide information on the summer opportunities they provide: The Support for Talented Students, OWLj Camp at Ohio Wesleyan University, Martin Essex School for the Gifted Summer Program at Otterbein College, Columbus College of Art and Design, COSI, Columbus Zoo, Thurber House, Audubon, Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio History Connection, and others. Join us to see some of the choices your child has for engagement this summer.

Selective Admissions School Fair 2018 @ Eastmoor Academy

PACE Selective Admissions School Fair

Several schools within the Columbus City Schools (CCS) district participate in the Selective Admissions Lottery program. This program allows gifted & talented students within our district to apply for enrollment at the most appropriate schools through a selective lottery process. Eastmoor Academy and Columbus Alternative High School (CAHS) are academic high school options. For our gifted and talented arts students, there are opportunities at the high school (Fort Hayes Arts and Academic High School), middle school [Arts Impact Middle School (AIMS)], and elementary school (Duxberry Park Arts Impact) levels. Representatives from these schools as well as Central Enrollment will be in attendance to assist you with planning and navigating the CCS selective admission process. Hope to see you there!

Navigating Secondary Options

Dr. Colleen Boyle, Director of the Gifted and Talented Division of Columbus City Schools will be discussing all the secondary options available to students: different school options, AP classes, College Credit Plus, IB program, VCAP, etc. This will be a great chance to ask questions about the different programs and find out how they might fit in to your student’s education plan. Please join us to find out more about which programs will best fit your family.

Writing Enrichment Night

Thurber House is bringing writing enrichment to PACE! Is your child a budding novelist? Or maybe they are scared to even start the writing process. Join us to learn new ways to engage your gifted child with writing. Meg Brown, the Director of Children’s Education from Thurber House has great ideas for both getting kids started writing and keeping them engaged, interested, and learning!
Get ideas for writing prompts, learn about other ways to engage your children in and out of school, and maybe try some writing yourself.
